It’s pretty hard making medical decisions over someone you love. A mother in Nebraska is being charged for kidnapping because she refuse to allow her four year old son to receive cancer treatment for his diagnoses of rhabdomyosarcoma.

Authorities caught up with Rehan on October 19. She told them that she is seeking a second opinion and will not be returning to Nebraska. A social worker from the Children’s Hospital in Omaha reported the incident. Dr. Acquazzino believe that the child has a 60% chance to survive with treatment.

There is obviously more to this story than what we are reading in the news. Surely, we are able to determine what medical treatment we want to pursue. Why isn’t this mother being allowed to chose care for her child? It has been divulged that the mother is using Medicaid and have not used it since she the missing appointments.
